Electrotech, part of the Sovereign Capability Group (SCG), has renewed and strengthened its long-standing distributor agreement with global technology leader Wärtsilä, marking more than 20 years of collaboration and 35 years of partnership excellence in Australian maritime communications.

The agreement reaffirms both organisations’ commitment to advancing safe, efficient, and compliant maritime operations through digitally integrated, secure, and scalable systems tailored to the evolving needs of Australian clients.

A partnership built on trust and performance

The Electrotech–Wärtsilä partnership spans more than two decades, underpinned by aligned values, mutual trust, and shared commitment to the Australian maritime sector. Together, the companies have delivered numerous Vessel Traffic System (VTS) projects nationwide — combining Wärtsilä’s global technology leadership with Electrotech’s deep local expertise in maritime compliance and system integration.

This collaboration extends beyond technology delivery. It represents a shared mission to enable safer, smarter, and more sustainable maritime operations across ports, offshore platforms, and coastal infrastructure.

Expanding horizons across Australia’s maritime domain

While VTS projects form the backbone of the partnership, the collaboration continues to evolve in both scope and sophistication. Recent milestones include simulator solutions for training and operations, as well as advanced systems integration for major clients including Shell Crux and Inpex.

The Shell Crux offshore platform project showcased the teams’ ability to deliver complex, high-stakes solutions requiring precision engineering and seamless coordination. Meanwhile, Inpex’s renewed support agreements highlight the enduring trust built through consistent performance and long-term service delivery.

“Our partnership with Wärtsilä demonstrates what enduring collaboration can achieve,” said Joseph Ritchie, Managing Director of Electrotech. “Together, we’ve combined global innovation with local understanding to deliver maritime technologies that enhance safety, efficiency, and compliance across Australia’s maritime sector.”

Complementary strengths driving success

Electrotech brings over three decades of proven experience in maritime electronics, system integration, and VTS implementation, alongside an intimate understanding of Australian operational requirements. Wärtsilä contributes world-leading maritime and VTS expertise, with installations across more than 80 countries, offering global best practice adapted to local conditions.

This partnership provides clients with the confidence that comes from local presence supported by global excellence — a combination that ensures seamless project implementation, lifecycle support, and reliability across every engagement.

Looking ahead

The newly signed agreement represents more than a contractual milestone it is a continuation of a trusted partnership that has shaped Australia’s maritime technology landscape for over two decades.

By aligning Electrotech’s integration expertise with Wärtsilä’s cutting-edge VTS solutions, the partnership will continue to strengthen the nation’s maritime safety and operational efficiency for years to come.
